Parchwell
In development · for Windows

Private AI for the documents you can't upload.

Parchwell reads the files on your own PC and answers questions about them — citing the page, or the sheet and rows, each answer came from. The AI runs on your machine. Your documents never leave it.

No signup form, no tracking on this page. Just an email address if you want one.

Built for people whose files can't go to a chatbot

The tools that are good require giving up the data. The tools that keep the data aren't good. Parchwell exists because that trade shouldn't be necessary.

Bookkeepers & accountants

Receipts, statements and returns for clients who never agreed to have their finances uploaded anywhere.

Lawyers

Privilege doesn't survive a paste into a chatbot. Ask across a matter's documents without anything leaving your PC.

Clinicians & care providers

Patient records carry obligations that don't pause because a tool is convenient.

Anyone under an NDA

Contracts, board packs, diligence rooms — material you're contractually forbidden to hand to a third party.

How it works

Four steps, none of which involve uploading anything.

Make an engagement

A container for one piece of work — a client, a matter, a case. Each keeps its own documents and its own privacy setting.

Add your documents

Point it at folders on your PC. Parchwell reads PDF, Word, text, Markdown, Excel and CSV files, plus images and scanned PDFs by OCR, and indexes them locally, encrypted at rest. OCR'd text is marked as scanned everywhere it surfaces.

Ask, or generate

Ask questions in plain language, or generate a briefing, a data table, a chart or a timeline from the sources.

Check the answer

Every claim carries a citation. Click it and the document opens at that page. Counts and totals are computed from your files, not guessed by a model.

Your own standards, on every job

Most tools only know what you paste into them, one conversation at a time. Parchwell keeps a shelf for the material you reuse across every client — and answers cite it by name.

Put your checklist somewhere it counts

The templates you start from, the checklist you work through on every matter, your practice's own policies, the past work you refer back to. Add them once, and every client's work can draw on them.

Your clients' files never travel

The shelf holds your practice's material, never a client's paperwork — which is exactly why it can be read from every engagement while one client's documents can never answer a question about another.

You can see which is which

An answer shows whether a point came from the client's document or from your own standard. "Your checklist requires a mileage log" and "the receipt shows $412.60" are different claims, and Parchwell keeps them apart.

Privacy you can check, not just be promised

"It's local" is easy to say and impossible for a buyer to verify. Parchwell is built so a sceptic — or a compliance officer — can check every claim on this page.

  • No account, no telemetry, and no server your documents pass through. We do not receive them, so there is nothing of yours on our side to breach. The one service we run is the firm seat directory, used only if you join a firm — it carries seat keys, never documents.
  • Encrypted at rest. The index — which holds the text pulled out of your documents — is encrypted with a key held by your PC. A stolen laptop yields nothing.
  • A verifiable audit log. Every document indexed, question asked and answer given — recorded, fingerprinted and chained. Export it for a compliance review.
  • A screen that shows everything stored — and erases it. Real paths, real sizes, then a re-scan of the disk to prove it's gone.

Being straight with you: Parchwell is still in development and not yet for sale. An optional "cloud assist" mode is planned for harder questions — when it ships, your documents still won't leave: the on-device AI will write a masked summary, with names and numbers replaced, and only that will go out. It will be off by default, chosen per engagement, and every summary sent will be shown to you and recorded in the audit log. Until it exists, everything happens on your PC.
